1963 Hellas Jenkki : Uudet Aseet
The Uudet Aseet (New Weapons) card series was released in 1963 by
Suklaatehdas Hellas Oy of Turku, Finland. The 120-card set showcases military
vehicles and weapons of the Cold War. The cards were distributed with packs of
Hellas Jenkki bubble gum. The images consist of recolored photographs
and artist renderings. Various illustrations are based on box art from Revell
model kits released in the 1950s and 1960s. Each card measures
approximately 5.5 x 8 cm. The card text is printed in Finnish and Swedish.
The collection includes the Soviet Vostok 3KA No. 6 spacecraft (Vostok 4), a Project Mercury boilerplate, the Atlas-Agena launch vehicle, a Telstar satellite, and the failed launch of TIROS-2.
The checklist not a direct translation of the card text. Identifications and
corrections are included.
