1963 Gelles-Widmer : Teach-Me Astronauts Space Cards
"The Exciting Story of Man in Space"
Teach-Me Astronauts Space Cards were released by the Gelles-Widmer Co.
in 1963. The series was sold in boxes of 48 flashcards. The card text was
authored by Frank O'Hasson. Each card measures 3 x 6 inches. The flashcard
series features official NASA photographs of Project Mercury and Project Gemini astronauts.
A similar flashcard series, Astronauts I.D. Cards, was released in 1963 by the McGraw-Hill Book Company. Both sets include the earliest known appearance of Project Gemini astronauts in a collectible card series. NASA Astronaut Group 2, known as "The New Nine," appear in a press photograph from September 17, 1962.
