1958 Parkhurst Products : Missiles and Satellites
Fusées Nucléaire
Missiles and Satellites cards were released in 1958 by Parkhurst
Products, Ltd. in Canada. The American Card Catalog reference is
V339-7. Each wax pack included a piece of Zip Bubble Gum. Each card measures
approximately 2.5 x 3.625 inches. The card text is printed in English and
French.
Cards #1–25 feature illustrations of early Soviet missions, as well as planned
space exploration concepts. The artistic depictions of Sputnik 1 and Laika the
space dog are inaccurate, likely due to the limited information available at
the time of production. The image of Laika (Лайка, "Curly") is based on a
photograph of Kozyavka (Козявка, "Booger"), a dog that safely completed two
sub-orbital flights in June 1956.
Cards #25–50 include photographs of American missiles, rockets, and test
vehicles that predate NASA. The series includes the U.S. Navy Viking #11 and a
V-2 rocket built from captured German parts. Both photos appear in the
Jet Planes
series from the Exhibit Supply Co.,
Record Holders of the World
from Cadet Sweets,
Missile and Jet Plane Trading Cards

Aircraft & Missile Trading Cards
from Sicle, and
