of the 1963 Topps Baseball series.
Each hobby box contains 24 packs with 9 cards per pack. Retail boxes contain
12 or 24 packs with 9 cards per pack. Blaster boxes contain 8 packs with 9
cards per pack. Insert odds vary for each release.
The odds of finding a "News Flashbacks '63" insert are approximately 1:12
hobby and retail packs. The ten-card subset features Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova, the first woman to fly in space and orbit the Earth. The photograph was taken in Rome, Italy, on September 8, 1967.
Vostok 6 was launched on June 16, 1963. Valentina Tereshkova completed 48 Earth orbits aboard the Vostok-3KA No. 8 spacecraft before returning on June 19, 1963. The descent module of the Voskhod 6 spacecraft is displayed at the RKK Energiya museum in Korolyov, Russia.
"Tereshkova, the daughter of a Russian tractor driver, turned her early parachuting experience into a role in her country's cosmonaut program. On June 16, 1963, she became the first woman in space. Aboard Vostok 6, Valentina orbited Earth 48 times on a 70-hour mission – a journey that made her a Soviet hero."
